What started as a cheese filled night in Central Otago with some delicious Pinot Noir has now turned into a fully fledged company here in Aotearoa, New Zealand! We don’t want to make cheese, we want to eat it - and we want to eat it with our friends. That’s how Cheese Cartel came to life - a few company founders eating cheese together and looking for a way to support small-scale farmers and artisan producers while hanging out together, celebrating food and embracing our love of cheese!

manager of Cheese Cartel

Debbie Hayes-Lennon, manager of Cheese Cartel
Debbie has been working with cheese for more than 12 years, so she knows her camembert from cow’s feta. She’s responsible for curating all of the cheeses and lovely accompaniments, and making sure our customer interactions run smoothly, from our head office in the North Island town of Putaruru. Her first love is Buffalo & Cow Blue , an Over the Moon blue cheese, but she’s been known to cheat on it with a really good brie.

Sue Arthur

owner of Cheese Cartel

Sue is a cheese guru, an entrepreneur and an innovator who believes everyone should eat more cheese. Everyday she gets to support boutique cheese makers and New Zealand foodies who love cheese by connecting them with our boxes of hard-to-find cheeses. Sheeps’ milk cheeses are her current obsession, but she’s also a fan of a wedge of tangy fresh cheese.
