CHEESE STORIES FROM BOX #27 - MARCH BOX

– DISPATCHED 9 MARCH 2021 –

CLEVEDON, SMOKED PAPRIKA TARTINADE

Creamy, smokey and delicious, this buffalo cheese spread brings a delicious French flavour to our March cheese box. The tartinade is based on the regional flavoured soft cheeses found in France, but with a unique kiwi twist. The fine folks at Clevedon Buffalo spent two years experimenting with salted curd to bring you this delicious spreadable cheese and won a bronze award at the 2020 Cheese Awards.

The Smoked Paprika Tartinade is particularly good for adding lush textures and a smoky aroma to homemade burgers and is absolutely delicious served with crostini or crackers or enjoyed as part of your cheeseboard.

KAIKOURA, BOTANIST

Kaikoura make consistently interesting cheeses and the Botanist is no exception.

The Botanist is a sheeps’ milk cheese based on a traditional Corsican recipe. Like most of the Kaikoura range, it’s a soft, seasonal cheese with a creamy, clean interior that’s a delight to eat. For a bit of added flavour, the rind is lightly coated in chili, rosemary, fennel and juniper berries.

HOHEPA, CUMIN

Hohepa runs homes and schools throughout New Zealand that provide education and social therapy for children, young people and adults with intellectual disabilities. The adult community life involves the residents in daily vocational programmes, ranging from craft skills for weaving, feltmaking, woodwork, candlemaking, farming and gardening… and cheese making! Hohepa cheese is made in Hawke’s Bay at their boutique Cheesery.

This Cumin Gouda is a bit of a classic - a hard, tasty cheese with a cumin bite and a little bit of sweetness at the end.

OVER THE MOON, WILLTON

This blue is balanced, complex and strong. This cheese will complement any cheese platter, but if you're looking for different cheese vehicles will also work well in a salad with pears and walnut.

Make sure to serve this cheese at room temperature. Add a side of honey is the perfect flavour combo. We've also learned a trick recently that coffee grounds on top of blue cheese and honey is next level delicious. You're welcome!
