CHEESE STORIES FROM BOX #21 - SEPTEMBER BOX

– DISPATCHED 15 SEPTEMBER 2020 –

This is our favorites box!

PENINSULA BLUE, BARRY'S BAY

We love a good stinky blue and this one does it all - it’s a big cheese with an enthusiastic aroma and a blue bite that hits you like a punch in the face. You’ll love it. What more can we say?

CLEVEDON MARINATED BUFFALO CHEESE

This pure white marinated buffalo cheese is a high protein, high calcium cheesy delight. It’s super creamy, light and tangy in flavour and makes for excellent snacking. Eat it on crackers, mixed through pasta, or choose our preferred method and eat by the spoonful, while wearing pyjamas at midday.

MERCER CHEESE, GOAT WAIKATO

This cheese has such amazing salty, umami flavours - this cheese dealer could easily scoff the entire wedge alone (and may have done so during lockdown). This is a pasturised goats milk cheese with a wonderful depth of flavour and a thick fudgey texture. Honestly delightful, it was made by Albert Alferink of Mercer Cheese, and it won a gold medal at the 2019 NZ Cheese Awards. It wins our own (un)official Cheese Cartel pick of the month award.

REMUTAKA PASS CREAMERY - FENUGREEK HARVARTI

This wonderful, summery cheese is produced by the Remutaka Pass Creamery and it’s so brand-spanking new that we can guarantee you haven’t tried it. Remutaka Pass Creamery is the passion project of Paul from C’est Cheese in Featherston and we can’t wait to taste and share their whole range. This harvarti is super velvety and delicious, with just the right amount of fenugreek flavouring. It’s made with all organic milk from Te Pare Farm in Kahutara and it’s produced super-fresh to lock in the flavour, with less than an hour between milking and making the cheese! Enjoy it with a pale ale in the sun and watch out for the maple syrup flavours of the fenugreek.
